We are Sydney’s French Polishing Experts
Traditional French Polishing dates back to the Victorian times and is commonly found on antique and heritage furniture. The process of a French Polish is extremely labour intensive but it produces a tough and very glossy surface which is far superior than any mass production method. It takes years and a lot of patience to master the art of French polishing, our master craftsmen have learnt their skills over decades with some of our French Polishers having 50 years experience in this very specialised field. We take complete pride in all of our work and we are incredibly meticulous ensuring that the end result will be simply stunning!
Over the years we have restored many beautiful pieces of antique furniture, we treat each piece with care and respect and understand that many of these antique pieces have a sentimental value to their owners. There simply is no better way to bring a piece of furniture back to life by restoring its French polish.
Our French Polishing services include:
If a piece requires extensive Furniture Restoration due to severe damage and cannot be repaired, we will re-surface the timber by completely stripping and re-polishing.
Minor Repairs, general clean-up and revival
If your furniture has minor scratches, heat mark, water damage, scuff marks or is chipped we can touch up the damaged area without having to French Polish the whole piece of furniture. Alternatively if your furniture is just looking a little tired and dull we can provide a service that re-invigorates and revives your furniture or architectural items.
Complete colour change or colour matching
Our team can give your furniture, banister railing, wood panelling or whatever it maybe a completely different look by changing its colour. Last year I purchased a stunning chesterfield lounge, which was beautifully reupholstered in the 1920s in olive green velvet. Though after years of love, the finish was definitely tired and the lounge was caving in. Thanks to all of the hard, and skilled work of the team at eastern suburbs antique restorations I have now received my transformed chesterfield. The work was completed to an incredibly quality. Anybody would be forgiven for believing it to be a new lounge altogether. All of the diamond backing was repaired, brand new springs and foam padding was added. For the first time I
can sit comfortably on the couch. Thank you everyone for the fantastic work. A mastery of restoration which I encourage everybody to use.
